DORADO V3 Corvus/V5 Poseidon QLINK Sapero/ Legacy

The QLink Sapero and Legacy
The QLINK Sapero is a cruiser in a sport bikes clothes. Though fared like a sport bike, it has forward controls, cruiser style seating, and swept handlebars. When I first saw the bike sitting out front at Dennis' my first thought was "mini DN-01".

The Sapero sports a perky 250cc 4-stroke, single cylinder liquid cooled engine mated to an automatic CVT transmission that produces 18 horse power. Measuring 86 and 1/2 inches long with a 28-1/2" height, the Sapero weighs in at a little over 400 pounds wet. The Legacy, due to having less body molding weighs in at a bit over 360 pounds. The Separo's tires are 100/90-18 up front with 150/80-15 in the back. The wheels on this bike are some of the hottest mags I've seen on a bike.

Standard on this bike is an FM/Tape/MP3 sound system that left me non-plussed at first. I quickly got over the fact that it had a radio and was overtaken by just how cool this system really was. With controls for the system place on the tank, big easy buttons too, it's just too neat for a gadget freak to scoff at.

The tape deck/flashmemory connector is mounted under the cowling just in front of the drivers seat. Sadly, I forgot to get a photo of it so I had to use a stock photo from QLINKS web site.

This may make you wonder about the gas tank itself. Well, lets make no bones about this, this bike is a scooter in a motorcycles clothing. My opinion on doing this is, well, why didn't someone do it sooner? Anyway, back to the sound system. The Ipod connector is niftily hidden away under the passenger seat along with the toolkit in a special compartment.

Did I forget to mention that the Sapero's brother, the Legacy, gets the same treatment? Only instead of having the sound system controls mounted on the tank cowling, they're mounted on the tree plate just below the handlebars. Again, I forgot to get a picture so I have to show you a stock pic.

The more I saw of the QLINK, the more impressed I was. It was the attentions to detail and the value of what you got for what you paid that was building up to an impressive package. Things like the standard sissybar, engine guards, windshield, and footboards.

An interesting note here; QLINK has added adjustable levers so that people with smaller/bigger hands can easily adjust the reach of the lever in a matter of seconds. I think this should be standard for all bikes. It just plain makes sense. A quick turn of the wheel to "4" and you have maximum reach. Turn to "1" and you have minumum reach. How simple is that?

I thought I was pretty impressed with the bike while Dennis was just showing it to me. That was before I rode it.
This bike is not a speed demon. I don't think I would suggest even taking it on the freeway. But if all your doing is riding around town, this bike is awesome! I'll let you in on my secret shame here, but only to illustrate a feature of this bike that I found to be the most impressive of all. I am terrible at low speed maneuvering. I can do it, but I always feel like I am going to lay the bike down. Not so with this bike and it's sibling the Legacy. These bikes are low speed maneuvering wonders. I don't know if it's the automatic tranny or just the balancing of the bike itself, but I could crawl, almost literally, doing u-turns and the bike gave nary a wobble. I was astounded!
I tried some weaving and it responded even better than my GV250. I was so impressed that I stopped my ride just to talk to Dennis about it. He confirmed my opinion stating it was one of the best maneuving bikes he's ever ridden.

I then resumed my ride and enjoyed the heck out of it. I quickly got used to having a brake where the clutch was supposed to be (it only takes a lock up or two, sorry Dennis
). The gauge cluster is nicely laid out with gauges for speed, fuel, and engine temperature.

All in all, this is a very cool bike. I didn't get to ride either the Sapero or the Legacy for as long as I would have wished, but what I did get was an impression of a well thought out and implemented bike. Good job QLINK!
